Participant Toolkit
Thank you for registering to participate in the virtual 5k! (This page is for those already signed up - if you haven't already done so, you can here)
-
If you've just registered, you should be receiving an email with a link to your race bib. You can print and wear this while participating if you'd like, but it is optional. The link to your individualized bib can also be found by going to https://runsignup.com/Profile then clicking on "View Digital Bib".
-
Please take a minute to fill out your personal fundraising page if you have not already done so during the registration process. Instructions on how to do this can be found in the document "Personal Fundraising Page Setup" (see link below).
-
Your next step is to get sponsors! Sponsors can be anyone you know who may want to donate money to the organizations in honor of your effort and participation. This can include friends, family, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, social media connections, and more! You can always make a general post on your social media outlets to ask people to donate. However, it is more personal and is likely to get better results if you reach out one-on-one. Sending a thoughtful letter to each person you think might want to give is great - this can be sent to that person directly through social media, emailed, delivered personally, or of course written and sent through classic mail. Feel free to use the "Sample Letter Template" as inspiration (link below).
-
Those who donate will get an automated "Thank You" message in their email, but it's great if you again reach out to them personally to thank them for their contribution. See the "Thank You Letter" document in the resources folder below for a sample message.
-
Please also reach out to anyone you know who might also want to participate and run/walk/jog/treadmill themselves! Whether you are spreading the word to ask for donations or to invite people to join the event with you, please follow our Facebook page and share with your connections. Feel free to use the branded Social Media Graphics in the folder across any platforms you use. And if you know of any local spots that would allow you to put up a flyer spreading the word about the event, the "Flyer" file can be printed off for easy publicity!
-
After you have completed the race, you are welcome to upload your results and they will be featured on the Results page. This is not required, but instructions for how to do so are in the "How To Submit Results" document. Please note that results can only be uploaded after the race starts on May 14th.
